Liverpool finished this game with a victory, but would be disappointed that they did not score more goals. Many good chances were wasted and some poor decisions from the referee didn't help. This was a very frustrating opening to the 2010/11 season from a Liverpool fans perspective, and not a game that Pepe Reina will remember with too much joy. Hodgson played a strong team on paper, with all of the star players starting, except for Torres – who sat on the bench to begin with.
